J'adore Paris...

Well we have just returned home from our weekend in Paris. We had an incredible time, and we instantly fell in love with the city. They call it "the city of love" for a reason, and it was so fun to be there with Joey for a few days. We like to think it was kind of a second honeymoon. We were able to do everything we wanted to, and we saw some really neat things, and it was a perfect getaway for us. The city has so much to offer, and we soaked up every minute of it that we could. We took one million pictures, and I had the hardest time picking them out, but here are some of the highlights of our trip. It was funny/interesting trying to remember some my high school french, but it was fun to recognize some the words or phrases that I heard throughout the trip. The city is so rich in history, and the architecture is beautiful, and the people are surprisingly SO nice. Everyone warned us that they would be mean to us, but they were nicer than some of the british people we've encountered. The food was delicious, the sites were awesome, and the city itself is amazing.

Ok call me cliche, but I am OBSESSED with the Eiffel Tour. It is amazing, and we took a gazillion pictures of it. This monument absolutely blows me away, it is so beautiful.
It was crazy to see it every single day, I absolutely loved it.

This is the opera house near our hotel. It's a beautiful building.

We took a walk through the park, and this tree-lined pathway was so pretty.

We walked along the Seine River on our way to the Notre Dame and they had all these little stands that you could shop at. We found this one that sells random license places from all over. Of course UTAH was front and center, we were pretty impressed.

Arc De Triomphe

Our first night, we took a boat tour down the Seine River at sunset.
We were able to see eight of the major landmarks of Paris along the way.
We came back to find the Eiffel Tour all lit up at sunset.
It was really romantic :)

Lafayette Galleries.
This is one of their major malls and it was the coolest set up ever.
This if from the third level looking down, and above there was
a huge stain glass dome that was incredible.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Joey and I had banana and nutella crepes EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
They were to die for. The most incredible things ever.
And we can't wait to make them all the time when we get home.
Some times we got an ice cream cone to split too.
I really really really want one right now.

There was a little park/pond outside the Musee de l'Orangerie and there were
like ten of these little boats floating around in the river.
People were just hanging out in the park floating them
around in the fountains and the pond. So fun.

We stayed at the Hotel Millennium. We probably payed way too much for it, but it was really nice and we are glad we stayed there. Their rating system over there is a little different than at home. This four star hotel was maybe a two or three star hotel at best.
But we really did love it, and had fun staying there.

I have seen pictures of these little macaroons EVERYWHERE. In magazines, on people's blogs, facebook, tv, everywhere and I've been wanting to try them forever.
We walked by a cute little shop that had some so we spoiled ourselves and got some.
They are delicious!! And so fun to eat.

We took the subway to this quaint little town where the Sacre Couer is.
It had a beautiful view of the city, and the basilica is beautiful.
PS that girl really wanted to be in our picture. Thanks.

Sacre Couer is where all the street painters are. We walked around forever admiring their work, and we were so close to buying one, but by the time we came back, they had already packed up for the night. SO SAD.

We went to the Louvre, which is an incredible site to see. There is almost
too much stuff there, and it is a bit overwhelming.
Top Left: The Mona Lisa; Middle Left: Joey and I were immature and thought that picture was funny (Emily, if you are reading this, he think this is you and me); Bottom: We stayed at the Louvre until closing time and we were lucky enough to have a section of the
museum all to ourselves. It was really cool.

We walked along the Seine River

Arc De Triomphe

We went to the Nike store in Paris and looked around for awhile.
Joey is obviously a big fan, sporting his Nike kicks.

Fountain in the center square

Our all-time favorite museum. Our last day we went to the Musee De l'Orangerie. They have eight huge panals of Monet's water lillies and they are absolutely incredible. We spent forever there looking at them, they truly are a work of art. If I were to change one thing about this trip, I would have taken an afternoon and gone out to Giverny to Monet's house to see these water lillies in real life. Joey is now obsessed with Monet (and I am too).

Paris at sunset, on our boat tour.

We love you, Paris!

Absolutely amazing. At 10:00 pm everynight, after the Eiffel Tour has been lit up for awhile, it sparkles like it has little twinkle lights for about five minutes. We went and watched this on our last night, and it was so fun. Everyone was there with their significant other and cameras and it was so neat to see that. Highlight of the trip for sure!

WE HAD A BLAST IN PARIS, AND WE ALREADY MISS IT. WE ARE ALREADY PLANNING OUR NEXT TRIP... IN TEN YEARS OR SO. WE SAW SO MANY INCREDIBLE THINGS AND HAD SO MUCH FUN THERE. THANK YOU PARIS, FOR BEING SO GOOD TO US!! WE MISS YOU ALREADY!
AU REVIOR!!
